OCPC's Response to the Ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic

Old Colony Planning Council places the highest value on the safety and well-being of the citizens of our communities. During this State of Emergency, the Council has taken measures to ensure that our work can continue as much as possible while abiding by the guidelines set forth by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
We are currently operating a limited staff and have closed our offices to the public. Some of our staff are working remotely and will be available to communicate by email. Upcoming meetings are being held virtually, while others have restricted access to the public. Please contact us by email if you require further information on how to participate remotely in any upcoming meeting.
We will be updating this webpage, as well as our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter with further information as it becomes available.
If you have concerns regarding the needs of senior citizens, the Area Agency on Aging recommends that you contact your local Council on Aging. A directory of our twenty-three community Councils on Aging is located at this link: AAA Local Resources.
We strongly recommend that everyone in our communities abide by the social distancing limitations in order to curb the spread of this disease. This is an unprecedented time for our region, so we urge everyone to be cautious, patient and cooperative. For community-specific information, consult our COVID-19 Community Response page.

AAA CARES Act Recovery Assistance

The Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is responsible for the establishment of a comprehensive, coordinated system of community-based supportive services and nutrition services for the elders in our region.

During April 2020, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $955 million in grants from the Administration for Community Living (ACL) to help meet the needs of older adults and people with disabilities as communities implement measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 across the country. The grants will fund home-delivered meals; care services in the home; respite care and other support to families and caregivers; including information about and referral to these supports. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides supplemental funding for programs authorized by the Older Americans Act of 1965 and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014. Through these programs, a network of community-based organizations, such as Area Agencies on Aging, Centers for Independent Living, senior centers, faith-based organizations, and other non-profits provide a vast array of resources and services to help older adults and people with disabilities stay healthy and live independently in their communities across the United States.
